Certificate of Completion

The Larry Head Institute awards a Certificate of Completion suitable for framing for attendance and completion at each of the offered courses. The program certificate should not be misinterpreted as a registry, license, or validation of competency. Additional requirements are required by the national credentialing organizations prior to preparing for the board examination to become registered or certified. The national organization that administers the examination for EEG, EP, and IOM registry is The American Board of Registration in Electroencephalograpic and Evoked Potential Technologists, abret.org; the credentialing body for nerve conduction studies is American Association in Electrodiagnostic Technologists, aaet.info; and Polysomnography board examinations are offered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, brpt.org.

Continuing Education Credits
The American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) recognize the Larry Head Institute continuing education courses as providing appropriate course content for continuing education credits. Continuing education credits are awarded as contact hours; one credit hour for each contact hour (course time) will be awarded to each participant. It is the responsibility of each student to maintain appropriate records for and provide documentation of their continuing education credentialing purposes.

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites or educational qualifications to enrolling in any of the courses we offer at LHI, however we suggest that the course description and objectives are reviewed to ensure the material is appropriate to the expected outcome prior to registration.  We are pleased to be able to offer an educational format that is appropriate for professionals with varying educational backgrounds including medical assistants, physicians, technologists, nurses, surgical technologists, chiropractors, engineers, and business professionals. The fundamental courses begin with instruction on the fundamental concepts of performing the studies and is designed for the entry level student preparing to learn new techniques and basic principles.

The board exam preparation courses are designed for the student who has already obtained practical experience and is preparing to take the registration examination. These courses are not geared for the entry level student regardless of educational background.

Qualifications for Employment
National registry or state licensure is not required to perform EEG, EP, IOM, or NCS although some employers require technologists to be either registered or registry-eligible. Along with all the national professional organization representing technologists, we support and encourage the credentialing process due to its benefits to the patient, employers, and the pride of professional achievement afforded the individual that completes this process.
